WONDERING WHICH SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS YOU SHOULD BE ON FOR YOUR BLOG? HERE’S A LOOK AT THE BEST SOCIAL MEDIA FOR BLOGGERS. WHICH ONE WINS? PINTEREST WINS, HANDS DOWN!

“Should I be active on all of the social media platforms?”

“Should I be using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Snapchat etc etc, for my business?”

No.

No, you don’t need to be active on all of the different social media platforms out there.

That would be mentally exhausting, and a huge time suck.

REGISTER ON ALL PLATFORMS, BUT DON’T USE THEM ALL

However, you SHOULD register with all of the major social media channels so that you claim your name “handle” (aka name) and make sure no one else gets it.

This way, if you decide to try one of the other social media platforms in the future, you will already have your name secured.

But should you actually be on and post to all of the major social media platforms at once, especially when you’re just starting out?

No, I don’t think you need to.

All that does is create stress and leaves you feeling like you need to be everywhere at once.

It leaves you without the ability to thrive on any one particular platform.

WHAT IS THE BEST SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM FOR BLOGGERS?

So what social media platform should you be on, as a blogger?

In my opinion, and in the opinion of experts like Kate Ahl who has built an entire business around it, Pinterest is where every blogger (and business owner in general) should be focusing their time and energy.

Do business owners have success on Instagram? Yes, some do.

Should businesses have a Facebook page? Yes, every business should probably have a Facebook page, even if they’re not going to be active on the platform, simply because of the sheer volume of users and “because everyone is doing it.”

But what platform should people invest the majority of their time into if they want to blog for more than just a personal hobby?

Pinterest is the winner.

PINTEREST WINS BIG TIME

Pinterest is more than a social media platform.

It’s a visual search engine and it can be a traffic powerhouse.

Pinterest results in half of my craft blog traffic.

The other half is almost all google traffic and a small amount of Facebook traffic.

It doesn’t matter what topic your blog is about.

EVERY blog and business in general can benefit from using Pinterest to market their content and increase their reach.

HOW DO YOU USE PINTEREST FOR YOUR BLOG?

Ok, so you should be on Pinterest… You understand that much.

But HOW do you market your blog on Pinterest?

HOW do you use Pinterest to grow your blog’s traffic?

First, you get educated by the best. My favorite resource for Pinterest related information is Kate Ahl from Simple Pin Media. I LOVE her podcast, and her weekly newsletters are packed with helpful information too.

Next, using tips from Kate, you set up your Pinterest profile. You make boards that fit your blog’s niche, and make pinnable images in Canva for all of your own blog posts.

Lastly, use a scheduling program like Tailwind to set up and automate posting your pins to Pinterest.

TAILWIND MAKES DAILY PINNING TO PINTEREST DOABLE AS A BUSY MOM

There is some debate on whether manual pinning or scheduled pinning to Pinterest is better.

But really, who has the time to get on Pinterest multiple times a day to pin things to your Pinterest boards?

I’m lucky if I remember to brush my kids’ teeth more than just once a day!

For me, scheduling and automating my Pinterest promotion is the ONLY way I can stay consistent, being a blogger and a mom.

That’s where Tailwind comes in.

I pay an annual fee to use their service, and it lets me schedule hundreds of pins to go out at scheduled intervals to my Pinterest boards.

I can put in an hour or two of effort and know that posts will be pinned to Pinterest over the next 6-8+ weeks, without me ever having to get on my computer or Pinterest at all, if I don’t want to.

THAT is something I can see the value in, as a stay-at-home mom of two little kids.

Tailwind also has lots of resources to help with blogging and business in general, and they are active in the blogging community; always trying to make sure they are giving us what we need the most.

With Pinterest and Tailwind’s help, you have an opportunity to get your blog posts in front of millions of people on a platform that often rivals google for searches.

And that’s why Pinterest is the best social media platform for bloggers.
