A Tribute to Dad on Father’s Day
Here’s to the dads who cradle newborn babies in their big, strong arms, promising them the world, the moon, and the stars.
Here’s to the dads who change diapers, warm up bottles, burp babies, and drive around in the middle of the night, trying to soothe their crying baby.
Here’s to the dads who dig in the dirt and play in the yard; who throw a ball, wrestle, and tickle.
Here’s to the dads who kiss a bumped head and put a bandaid on a skinned knee.
To those dads, we salute you.
Here’s to the dads who watch every game, cheering and clapping loudly.
Here’s to the dads who sniffle and blink away a tear at dance recitals.
Here’s to the dads who wait up in the living room, trying to keep their worry in check as they stare at the time on their watch.
Here’s to the dads who warily evaluate the significant other their baby brought home, convinced they’re not quite good enough for them.
And here’s to the dads who take a deep breath, and agree to give their daughter away.
Here’s to the dads who walk their daughters down the aisle, and to the dads who hug their sons as they marry the love of their life.
Here’s to the dads who wait anxiously outside hospital rooms, and ignore the tears as they hold their grandchild for the first time.
Here’s to the dads that make it all worthwhile.
To the dads who raised us, and to the dads who are raising our children with us, we salute you.
We thank you, and we love you.
You are remarkable.
Here’s to you!
